MORE ABOUT THE DOME

The shows are characterized by high quality and educational content which exude experimental passion and creativity. The Center's own dome production is made based on knowledge and experience from Norrköping's Visualization and Interaction Studio (NVIS). We see it as an important task to develop, test and evaluate new types of interactive experiences and narrative techniques - a creative process that suits the university's researchers and students.

Technical facts:

Screen

Supplier: Spitz Inc.

Model: Spitz Nano Seam (state of the art, no seams, all panels cut in place)

Diameter: 14.80 meters
The dome covers 165 degrees of a sphere and inclines 27 degrees
The dome weighs about 2.5 tons and hangs from the ceiling on 12 chains. The material is primarily aluminum.
The screen is perforated for ventilation and acoustics. 23% of the surface is made up of holes.
The size of the screen's surface is just under 300 square meters.

There are only two companies that can build this type of screen with the required precision: Spitz and Astrotec. This is one of the few screens in the world that has no seams, making it very unusual.

Projector solution
Supplier:
HoloVis International Ltd
Six separate projectors mean that the entire screen is covered with images. In the dome there is also a seventh projector as backup and for presentations. Total resolution: 3710 x 3180 pixels.
Stereoscopic images (3D) can be shown in the entire dome. We use active stereo, which means that the projectors shift between right and left eye images 120 times per second and have active eyeglasses (battery-powered) which via LCD crystals close one eye at a time (shutter glasses).
