As a step to activate an already established contact with Ars Electronica and get into a substantive cooperation, representatives from Citilab, C-Studio and Norrköping Art Museum traveled to the new Ars Electronica Center in Linz during the time of the international festival Ars Electronica. Another goal with the trip was to find ideas for a co-produced art exhibition between Norrköping Art Museum and Norrköping Visualization Center.
The Ars Electronica Festival is an international showcase of the most innovative and prominent in digital arts and new media, and an important source of inspiration for the center in Norrköping. The festival was packed with art exhibitions, installations, performances, concerts, lectures, workshops and film screenings and it attracts hundreds of thousands visitors from all over the world. The program was particularly interesting and magnificent because Linz this year is Europe´s Capital of Culture.
A significant part of the visit was devoted to the newly opened Ars Electronica Center, an impressive building of 6 000 square meters, and to meet with representatives from the center to discuss exchange of content and skill between the two institutions. The center, also called the Museum of the Future, is interested in how the latest technological innovations affect and change our lives. An action plan for further cooperation on both ongoing projects, and potential projects that could be implemented within the framework of a twinning between the cities, is now planned.
